NewsApril, 2011 The painting "Asian Vessels" has been accepted for exhibition in the Oil Painters of America's 20th Annual National Exhibition taking place on June 10th - July 9th, 2011. For those interested in viewing the exhibition, it will be held at the Devin Galleries, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  February, 2011

The Art Renewal Centre just released the result of the 2009/10 ARC International Salon competition. I'm ecstatic to say that "Gourds & Bottles" together with "Serenity" and "A Knowing Glance" were included in list of Top 100 Finalists. Once again, the top 100 finalists were picked from over 1,700 entries from all over the world. It's really an honour to have my work included with some of the finest realist artists of today. I'm excited to announce that my painting "Meditation" was selected as a finalist in the Still Life / Floral category of The Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition. The award winners will be featured in the December issue of the magazine.

I will be participating in a group exhibition hosted by the Alton Mill Gallery. Located in Alton, Ontario, the gallery is housed in a redeveloped, 19th century stone mill complex. The exhibition is being launched on July 18th and will run thru to mid-September. For those interested in viewing the exhibit, the Alton Mill Gallery is located at 1402 Queen Street West, Alton, Ontario.

"Lady Apples" has been accepted as Finalist at the International Artist's Magazine's Favorite Subjects competition. The painting together with a short write-up will be featured in the August / September 2009 issue.

I am very pleased to announce that "Gourds and Bottles" was awarded Best in Show at the Richeson 75 Still Life & Floral competition. In addition, "Nest Egg" and "Essentials" were chosen as Finalists for the competition. It has been a good month for Adelaide Street Studio as a whole. My studio mate, Imam Azhari, also won in this competition. His painting entitled "Breaking the Barrier" was awarded First Place in the Oil / Oil Pastel category.

The Dimasalang III group exhibit both in Vancouver and the Philippines were well received. There were 11 Filipino / Canadian artists who participated in both shows. At the opening of the Philippine exhibit, we were honoured by the presence of Mr. Noli de Castro, Vice President of the Philippines and Mr. Robert Dejardins, Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines, who both officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Artist Project Toronto has announced the participants for the 2009 show, and yours truly was awarded one of the coveted spots. This exclusive juried exhibition will be held at the Liberty Grand in Toronto, from March 5th through to March 8, 2009. Stay tuned for more information closer to the event.

The following paintings, Huevos y Jarro and Meditation, were chosen finalists at the Richeson 75 Still Life Competition. In addition, Speckled Eggs was chosen as a meritorious entry. All three paintings will be featured in the Richeson 75 Exhibit Book. Paintings of my fellow artists at the Adelaide Street Studio, Teresa Nice and Katherine Stone, were also included as finalists.
